Baby Thomas has arrived

I went for my 37 week OB check-up on Friday, December 17th. The doctor said I was 80% effaced and the baby was at fingertip. I thought I still had a few more days before Baby T would make his/her debut. After my appointment, I went for a hair cut and then returned home to finish up a project for work. I took a nap and woke up to the first sign of labor for me-my water had broken. I called my sister, Colleen for comfort and reassurance.

Tim called me around 5:30pm on his way home from work to inform me he made dinner reservations at Legals Seafood to celebrate my accomplishments with school this past semester. I was happy yet sad (b/c I really wanted seafood) to inform him that we would not be making it to dinner that night.

We arrived at the hospital around 6:30pm and the process began. I was fully dilated by 4am and began pushing. Unfortunately, after 4.5hours, Baby T did not make it out. The baby was face up and the doctor was unsuccessful at turning the baby. At 8:51am, I headed to the OR for a C-section. I was heart-broken to hear this news, but at 9:06am when my baby girl arrived, I knew it was well worth it. Amelia Claire Thomas was born on December 18th weighing 5lbs 12oz and 19inches in length. Amelia was born on the 17th anniversary of my Grandmother's death. I consider this to be a significant sign and hope Amelia possess the same amazing qualities my Grandmother did.
